Old Friends, New Enemies Part 2

SPACE ORBIT AROUND NOXIALLAN. Fragments of Ori Battlecruisers and Nox PeaceKeepers are floating around in space. In the midst of these large fragments, the Ori BattleCruisers stand victorious and turn around and fly back towards the planet. Zoom in a nearby large piece of debris from an Ori ship. On the other side, facing away from the retreating Ori ships, are two stationary F-302s.

MITCHELL: How you doing over there, Teal’c?

TEAL’C: My situation has not improved any since the last time you asked, Colonel Mitchell.

MITCHELL: You know, I thought you might say that.

TEAL’C: What is the plan?

MITCHELL: Plan… right. Not really thinking up any brain-busters over here. I do have an idea. More like a suggestion really. ‘Plan’ hardly defines it. We wait until those Ori ships have gone back to the planet, and then we try to find Sam and any other Nox survivors down on the surface.

TEAL’C: I do not believe the Nox could have survived an impact with the ground.

MITCHELL: Hey, I’m not giving up on them and we sure as hell aren’t leaving Sam behind.

TEAL’C: Indeed.

MITCHELL: Besides, without the Odyssey around to take us back aboard, we’re pretty much cut off from the rest of the galaxy.

TEAL’C: I could send out a distress signal and notify friendly forces of our position.

MITCHELL: How long would that take to reach Earth?

TEAL’C: Unfortunately, a very long time. However, there may be vessels in the area that will receive our message.

MITCHELL: And what if the Ori get a hold of it?

TEAL’C: Then our position will not have changed.

MITCHELL: Right. Send it. (Computer beeps. Mitchell checks radar.) Uh, Teal’c, better get ready to hustle out of here. It looks like a group of Ori fighters are on their way. We won’t be able to hide from them.

TEAL’C: Understood. I have sent the distress signal identifying our location and situation.

MITCHELL: Then let’s get the hell out of here.

ABOARD THE HERON. Colonel Ramirez, Daniel, and Vala are all on the bridge, watching as two Ori BattleCruisers emerge from the planet’s atmosphere and begin to approach them.

JACKSON: What are you doing? Shouldn’t we be going?

RAMIREZ: We can handle two Ori ships, Doctor Jackson.

JACKSON: What? You must be out of your mind! (Ramirez gives Daniel a cold stare.) We almost got ourselves killed fighting one Ori ship and now you’re going up against two!

RAMIREZ: Our computer systems malfunctioned. My crew guarantees me it won’t happen again.

JACKSON: (Angrily) You’re going to get your crew killed! Colonel, we need to get out of here as fast as possible!

VALA: Daniel, I think you should be quiet.

RAMIREZ: Sergeant-at-arms, remove Doctor Jackson from the bridge.

(One of the Heron’s crewmembers comes up to Daniel’s side.)

JACKSON: Are you even hearing me?

(The sergeant-at-arms grabs Daniel’s arm.)

VALA: (Pleading) Alright, I think things have gotten a little out of hand. Apologize, Daniel.

FIRST OFFICER: Sir, the Ori ships are almost in range.

RAMIREZ: Get him out of my sight.

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS: Yes, sir.

(The sergeant begins to pull Daniel away from Colonel Ramirez and Vala. Then, a beep comes from the first officer’s computer. He looks at it in disbelief.)

FIRST OFFICER: Sir, you’re not going to believe this.

RAMIREZ: What is it?

FIRST OFFICER: One of the Ori ships is hailing us.

(The sergeant stops pulling Daniel to check the commotion. Colonel Ramirez looks at Daniel, who shrugs.)

RAMIREZ: Open a channel.

(A hologram of a Prior appears on the bridge. He is holding his staff and his hood has been pulled back to reveal the disfigurement in his face.)

PRIOR: Earth vessel, you have this one chance to surrender to the Ori. Either power down your weapons and shields or be annihilated.

RAMIREZ: I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon. You underestimate the abilities of this ship under my command.

PRIOR: If you do not power down your weapons, we will immobilize your ship and board it. Every last one of you will become prisoners of the Ori.

RAMIREZ: You would take heavy casualties if you tried to board this ship, Prior. This ship is more than capable of defending itself and destroying you.

JACKSON: (whispering) What are you doing?!

RAMIREZ: (away from the hologram) Making us seem a bigger threat than we’re worth. (towards hologram) Now leave us in peace, Prior. My patience with you is growing thin.

PRIOR: (agitated) Your patience? You are alive because of my grace. Once you are prisoners I will personally see to your study of Origin, Commander.

VALA: Why do you want us as prisoners?

(The hologram enlarges to show a figure moving to the side of the Prior.)

TOMIN: Because it is a great sin to ignore the visions from the Orici.

VALA: (Shocked) Tomin.

ABOARD THE VESALLIUS. The wreckage of a large PeaceKeeper is on fire and has crashed into the planet’s surface. Fires are erupting all over the surface of the ship, and Nox people are rushing from the burning wreckage. Inside the ship are Samantha Carter, Lona, and Vesallius. Carter is lying on the floor.

LONA: Colonel Carter?

VESALLIUS: She does not appear to be conscious.

(Lona kneels down to Carter’s body and waves her hand over Carter’s head. Carter starts to move and opens her eyes. She looks around at the burning wreckage.)

CARTER: What happened?

LONA: We have crashed on the planet.

VESALLIUS: I was able to minimize the damage, but the ship is no longer operational. It is being evacuated as we speak.

LONA: Are you alright?

(Lona helps Carter to her feet. Carter puts her hand to her head in pain.)

CARTER: My head is on fire.

(Lona waves her hand over Carter’s face again.)

LONA: How is it now?

CARTER: (Surprised) Better. Actually, the pain is entirely gone. Thanks. How did you do that?

(Several alarms begin to sound.)

VESALLIUS: The fires have spread to this level. You must get off the ship.

CARTER: What about you?

VESALLIUS: I will remain behind until everyone is safely off. (Vesallius closes his eyes for a moment.) The transporter beams have been damaged. You must evacuate manually.

LONA: Let’s go. Follow me.

ABOARD THE HERON. The Ori holograms have disappeared and the crew is discussing what to do next.

RAMIREZ: Surrender is not an option. This ship is carrying advanced Asgard weaponry. If it were to fall into the hands of the Ori, then we’ve just lost our only advantage over them. I’ll die before I surrender this ship.

JACKSON: Yes, we’ve established that, and no one is suggesting that we surrender the ship to the Ori, but what other options do we have? I mean, what resources does this ship possess that we can use to our advantage?

RAMIREZ: We have a bay of 302s, we power our weapons, take out one ship quick, then evade the other until we’re able to lock on and destroy it.

VALA: I think that’s a bad idea.

RAMIREZ: Excuse me?

VALA: (Hesitantly) Well, couldn’t we just jump into hyperspace and come back later? I mean, what’s the rush?

(Daniel eyes Vala.)

RAMIREZ: You want them to find that Anti-Ori weapon down there, Vala? That’s the purpose of this mission. I’m not retreating under any circumstance or surrendering. Worst case scenario, we open fire on the Ori ship on the planet and destroy the weapon before the Ori find it. At least that way they won’t be able to use it themselves.

JACKSON: There must be some other way…

RAMIREZ: There is. We take this ship to battle stations and fight until we’re dead.

VALA: How about some other way that doesn’t involve us dying?

JACKSON: And besides there’s nothing to stop more Ori ships coming and finding the weapon after you’ve had your little suicide run. You’d fail your mission.

(Ramirez looks at Daniel, remembering.)

RAMIREZ: Didn’t I order you off my bridge?

JACKSON: Look, what other devices do you have on board, something that may… (thinking) This ship doesn’t have an Anti-Prior weapon, does it?

RAMIREZ: Of course it does, each ship carries one.

VALA: (Snaps fingers) Well then problem solved!

RAMIREZ: But there’s a limit to how far it is capable of reaching. The Prior has to be on the ship for it to work.

VALA: (unsnapping fingers) Alright, problem unsolved.

JACKSON: If we could somehow get the Anti-Prior device closer to the Ori ships, would it be able to disrupt their powers?

RAMIREZ: It’s possible. But I don’t see how we can do that. We can’t just shoot it at them, it’ll probably just go flying by.

JACKSON: (Looks at the two Ori ships in front of them through the glass.) If we could place the device in between the ships, would it block their powers?

RAMIREZ: We’d have to enlarge the field; perhaps if we hooked it up to a naqahdah generator it would increase its capacity enough to cover both ships. But we still don’t have any way of getting it there.

(Daniel looks around for a solution.)

VALA: Daniel, my throwing arm is a bit soft, but I think I could get it there. Keeping it there is a different problem, though.

JACKSON: We could beam it there. It should stay stationary in space, the same way it was sent through the beam.

(Colonel Ramirez looks at Daniel.)

VALA: I think she likes her whole fighting and dieing strategy better, Daniel.

RAMIREZ: (ignoring Vala) Set it up, Jackson.

SPACE ORBIT AROUND NOXIALLAN. Teal’c and Mitchell are maneuvering their 302s around, with seven Ori Fighters behind them shooting wildly. They begin to enter the planet’s atmosphere.

MITCHELL: How we doing, Teal’c?

TEAL’C: We are being chased by several Ori Fighters.

MITCHELL: Well I knew that!

TEAL’C: Not well, then.

(The 302s enter the atmosphere, swerving, and reach the planet’s surface. There they pull up and begin to fly over the forest below them. An Ori Fighter is unable to pull up and slams into the ground in a big fireball. Another Ori Fighter shoots after them, but misses and the blasts hit the forest, starting a fire.)

MITCHELL: Scratch one.

(Up ahead, a large, smoldering wreckage appears on the planet’s surface.)

TEAL’C: Colonel Mitchell, that looks like the Nox ship that Colonel Carter was on.

MITCHELL: Alright, let’s fly over it and see if there are any survivors.

(Suddenly, Mitchell’s 302 is hit by an Ori blast. A fire ignites on the ship.)

MITCHELL: I’m hit! I’m going down!

TEAL’C: Colonel Mitchell!

(Mitchell’s 302 is about to crash into the forest below when his fighter jet all of the sudden stops in midair.)

MITCHELL: What the hell?

(Behind him, the Ori Fighters are pursuing Teal’c’s 302. A sequence of blasts comes from the forest below and each Ori ship is hit with a paralyzing blow. The ships’ shields are ineffective and each one freezes over with ice. They fall to the ground where they shatter into pieces.)

MITCHELL: What was that?

TEAL’C: The Ori Fighters have been destroyed.

MITCHELL: Good work, Teal’c.

TEAL’C: It was not me, Colonel Mitchell.

(Mitchell’s 302 begins to descend slowly to the ground where it lands. Up ahead of him, a group of men are walking towards him carrying weapons.)

MITCHELL: Uh, Teal’c, you better get down here.

ABOARD THE HERON. Daniel and Vala are with the Anti-Prior device that has been successfully hooked up to a naqahdah generator. They are waiting to beam it into space. On the bridge, the hologram comes back to life and Colonel Ramirez is looking at the Prior again.

PRIOR: What is your decision? This will be the last offer to save you and your crew.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Any time, Doctor Jackson.

JACKSON: (over radio) Almost ready.

RAMIREZ: (to the Prior) You know, if it was up to me, I would just blow your ship into a million pieces.

PRIOR: (laughs) I do not doubt your courage, but it is useless to match the power of the Ori.

RAMIREZ: The Ori are dead, and you’re about to join them.

JACKSON: (over radio) Alright, beam it!

FIRST OFFICER: Ori ships are powering their weapons.

RAMIREZ: (to first officer) Launch!

(The Anti-Prior device is beamed from where Daniel and Vala are standing and into space. A white light emerges between the two Ori ships. The two Ori ships remain motionless.)

RAMIREZ: Status?

FIRST OFFICER: Ori ships power levels just dropped to zero percent. Shields are zero. Weapons zero.

RAMIREZ: (sighs in relief) Prepare to fire.

(Vala and Daniel run onto the bridge.)

JACKSON: Did it work?

RAMIREZ: You still manage to impress me, Doctor Jackson. Yes, it did. Thanks to you, we’re about to destroy the two ships without taking a single Ori blast.

VALA: What? You can’t just kill them like this!

RAMIREZ: Watch me.

FIRST OFFICER: Weapons are coming online.

VALA: (Turns to Daniel.) Daniel, do something!

JACKSON: Vala, why are you so intent on keeping the Prior alive?

VALA: I don’t care about the Prior! After what they’ve done they can all join the Ori in the great fire in the sky. I don’t want us to attack because Tomin is on that ship!

JACKSON: Oh…

VALA: Daniel, please, do something.

FIRST OFFICER: Firing solution is locked on, sir.

JACKSON: Colonel, can I propose an alternative to your plan?

RAMIREZ: If it doesn’t have anything to do with destroying these Ori ships, then I don’t want to hear it.

JACKSON: Just hear me out for a few seconds. They’re motionless and defenseless. Thirty seconds isn’t going to change that.

(Colonel Ramirez looks at Daniel.)

FIRST OFFICER: Awaiting your order, sir.

(Ramirez is silent for a moment.)

RAMIREZ: You have your thirty seconds, Doctor Jackson, since you came up with the idea to disable the ships. Let’s hear your proposal.

JACKSON: Alright, thank you. Now, destroying Ori ships is all and well, but consider the power that those Ori ships possess. The shields, the weapons –

RAMIREZ: I’m aware of their strengths, Doctor, which is the reason I’m going to destroy them.

JACKSON: Yes, of course, but what if we were able to take control of the ship. We board the Ori ship, take out their crew, take out the Prior, and then take command of an Ori vessel. Think of the advantages of having an Ori ship under our control. Under your control.

VALA: (suddenly excited with the plan) We could take out any other Ori ship we came across with their own weapons!

RAMIREZ: (nods) It’s definitely worth a shot. (to First Officer) Get a boarding party ready.

FIRST OFFICER: Yes, sir.

JACKSON: (relieved) Thank you.

RAMIREZ: Doctor Jackson and Vala have graciously volunteered to lead the expedition to commandeer the Ori ship.

JACKSON and VALA: What?

RAMIREZ: If you’re not back in two hours, we open fire. It’s only a matter of time before those Priors override our Anti-Prior weapon.

NOXIALLAN. Mitchell and Teal’c have landed their 302s and are facing the group of armed, unknown men in gray clothes.

MITCHELL: Howdy, fellas. No need for any fighting. We’re all on the same side here. I think.

UNKNOWN LEADER: Do you know who we are?

MITCHELL: Well, I’m guessing you’re not the Nox. The lack of wild hair and weird clothes makes that clear. And I’m guessing you don’t know who we are –

UNKNOWN LEADER: We know you well enough, Tau’ri. (He motions for his men to lower their weapons.) I am Melior of the Tollan.

MITCHELL: The Tollan? Now where have I heard that name before.

TEAL’C: The Tollan were an advanced civilization until Anubis destroyed their planet when they resisted him. I believed them all to be dead.

MELIOR: Not all of us. A few escaped the massacre and the Nox welcomed us to their homeworld, as they had done so in the past.

MITCHELL: Then what are you doing out here by yourselves?

MELIOR: The Nox did not want to fight the invading ships. We did. For a long time, our people were pacifist in nature, believing ourselves to be invulnerable to attack by any enemy. However, that all changed when we were tricked and deceived by Anubis. We took up arms against the Ori and for that reason we were banished into the forest. By the time the Nox began to realize their mistake, their cities had already fallen. So we remained out here, carrying out guerrilla attacks on any Ori that come by.

MITCHELL: How did you take out those Ori Fighters?

(Melior smiles. He motions for one of his soldier’s guns. He hands it to Mitchell. It looks like a regular automatic weapon, except it is lighter and has a large, rounded end.)

MELIOR: It is one of our newest designs. It is a Freezing Gun.

MITCHELL: (Looking over the gun.) Cool.

TEAL’C: (studying the weapon over Mithcell’s shoulder) Indeed.

MELIOR: We were able to modify it to penetrate the Ori shields. After that, they become frozen long enough for us to eliminate them.

MITCHELL: (hands back the gun) Look, Melior, we’re grateful that you helped us out back there. But we’re looking for one of our people. She came down on one of the crashed Nox ships.

MELIOR: There is a ship over in that direction. (He points off into the distance where Mitchell sighted the wreckage.) I will take you there.

ABOARD THE DISABLED ORI BATTLECRUISER. In a lone hallway, vacant of any sign of life, a bright white light shines down and Daniel Jackson, Vala, and three Marines appear. The Marines take up a defensive position, weapons drawn, while a second white light appears nearby and five more Marines join them.

MARINE: Area secure.

SERGEANT: Alright, Doctor Jackson, which way to the control room?

JACKSON: Uh, I’m not really sure…

VALA: I know the way.

(Vala begins to walk off down the hallway. The sergeant looks to Jackson for confirmation.)

JACKSON: (shrugs) Follow her.

SERGEANT: Alright squad, let’s move out.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Doctor Jackson, life systems on the Ori ship still seem to be operational. The Ori must have some kind of backup system in case of emergencies.

JACKSON: (over radio) Or the Prior was able to override the Anti-Prior device a lot quicker than you thought he could.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) If that were the case, the Ori ships would be powering their shields and weapons. I don’t need to remind you that if they do get their shields back up then we can’t beam you out.

JACKSON: (over radio) Understood. Jackson out.

SERGEANT: Vala, slow down. We have to check every hall before we move on.

(Up ahead, Vala has disappeared around a bend in the hallway. The rest of the Marines have begun to move faster to keep up with her, ignoring the side hallways. Daniel is in the back.)

SERGEANT: Vala? Vala where are you?

JACKSON: (after no response for several seconds) Vala?

(The squad moves around the bend only to find Vala in the hands of four Ori soldiers, and holding her from behind is Tomin. The marines aim their weapons at him but do not fire for fear of hitting Vala.)

TOMIN: Don’t move.

VALA: Tomin –

TOMIN: You should not have come back. I already risked my life setting you free once. The Prior will not be as forgiving this time. (to the marines) Put down your weapons.

SERGEANT: Not gonna happen.

(Three more Ori soldiers appear behind Daniel and the marines, surrounding them.)

TOMIN: Yes, it will.

VALA: Tomin, why are you doing this?

TOMIN: I persuaded the Prior that I had seen a vision from the Orici. In it, she told me that the mother of the Orici should not be harmed, and anyone who disobeys will face her wrath. The Prior believed me and spared your ship. Now, however, the ship has powered down on its own accord.

JACKSON: Yeah, that was our doing. We have a device that negates the Prior’s powers.

TOMIN: Impossible, the Prior’s power comes from the Ori themselves.

JACKSON: We have a weapon for them, too. In fact, we already used it to wipe out all the Ori.

TOMIN: (angered) Blasphemy! The Ori are gods! I don’t believe your lies!

VALA: It’s true, Tomin, we sent it through the Super Gate and into this galaxy. Every single Ori would have been destroyed.

TOMIN: Enough, all of you! I will send you to the Prior and he will do with you as he wishes.

OUTSIDE THE VESALLIUS. Sam Carter, Lona, and Nox survivors are running away from the ship and into the forest.

CARTER: Is everyone out?

LONA: I think so. Vesallius would not leave anyone behind.

(Suddenly, an explosion from inside the ship rocks the Vesallius, and Sam is knocked off her feet. The Vesallius is blown into two parts and there is fire everywhere.)

LONA: Vesallius!

CARTER: Is he alright?

(Lona closes her eyes, then looks to the ground and shakes her head.)

LONA: Many Nox perished today.

(In the distance, Mitchell, Teal’c, and the Tollan see the explosion.)

MITCHELL: Come on!

(They rush down to the explosion where they find Sam and Lona.)

MITCHELL: Sam!

CARTER: Mitchell! Teal’c! Thank goodness you’re alright!

TEAL’C: I am pleased to see you well also, Colonel Carter.

CARTER: Yeah, so am I. But the Nox have suffered a lot of casualties.

LONA: (Surprised to see the Tollan.) Melior? What are you doing here?

MELIOR: I am helping the Tau’ri find their friend, Lona. And on the way here we killed several Ori.

LONA: (Glares at him.) Not now, Melior.

CARTER: Cam, who are these people?

MITCHELL: The Tollan. Apparently they’ve been refugees here ever since Anubis destroyed their home world. They took down the Ori Fighters that were chasing us.

CARTER: (Impressed) Really?

TEAL’C: They have a freezing device that immobilizes the Ori and penetrates their shields.

CARTER: I’d love to see it.

MELIOR: Certainly. I will show you.

(Sam and Melior move off to the side to study the weapon.)

MITCHELL: Alright. Lona, right? (Lona nods.) What’s the best way to take back your cities?

LONA: There will be no more fighting today, Colonel Mitchell. Now is the time for grieving for the ones lost today who cannot be brought back.

(Lona walks off to be with the other Nox who are huddled together.)

MITCHELL: Well that’s just great. One minute they’re fighting the Ori and the next minute they’re giving up. If they would just use their powers against the Ori then maybe we’d have a chance.

TEAL’C: It is against their beliefs.

MITCHELL: I don’t care what it is. (He runs after Lona.) Hey! Why are you guys so scared of the Ori? They can’t beat you if you just use a little of that power that you have.

LONA: It is against our highest laws.

MITCHELL: Yes, so you keep saying. But your powers would have helped save hundreds of Nox lives today, and you know it.

(Lona turns to him.)

LONA: It is… not possible.

MITCHELL: Look, It’s great that you don’t want to use power in a bad way, but think about how many lives you will save in this fight if you just use them this one time.

LONA: I cannot. None of us can.

MITCHELL: Why not?

LONA: Because… (Pauses, as if ashamed.) The Prior has some control over our powers here. We cannot use our powers even if we wanted to. He blocks our every move.

(With that, she turns and walks away.)

ABOARD THE DISABLED ORI BATTLECRUISER. Tomin and his Ori soldiers are leading Daniel Jackson, Vala, and the marines to the control room. They enter it, where the Prior is sitting in his control chair. Daniel Jackson stops for a moment, looking around as if sensing something. He is pushed forward by an Ori soldier.

TOMIN: Prior, these intruders were found moving along the ship.

PRIOR: I had sensed their presence ever since they boarded. I was just about to send a squad to capture them. Good work, Commander.

JACKSON: You and I both know that your powers have left you.

PRIOR: Deceived by your own ignorance, non-believer? I have never lost the powers that the Ori graciously bestowed upon me.

JACKSON: Well, our weapon that’s sitting out in space near your ship says otherwise. That’s why you’ve lost power to your shields and weapons, and that’s why you haven’t destroyed our ship.

TOMIN: Is this true?

PRIOR: I have led the non-believers into a trap to bring us the mother of the Orici. Now we have them, just as the Orici wished. We have no use for anyone else. Dispose of the others.

(The Ori soldiers begin to gather the marines and Daniel together and pushing them towards the exit.)

VALA: No! Tomin, please! Do something!

JACKSON: (to Tomin) He’s lost his power! Tell him to destroy the ship! He knows he can’t do it.

(The Prior gives Daniel an angry glare.)

PRIOR: Remove them from here and then destroy them!

VALA: Tomin, Daniel’s right! If you’ve ever believed in me, then believe in me now.

(Tomin looks from Daniel Jackson to the Prior and then to Vala.)

TOMIN: Stop.

(The Ori soldiers stop moving and wait.)

PRIOR: What are you doing, Commander? I am in charge here!

TOMIN: (walks slowly to the Prior) Fire on their ship.

PRIOR: (shaken) What?

TOMIN: Fire on their ship. Now. We have what we came for, by your words we do not need anything else. Destroy their ship.

PRIOR: I will do that when I feel the time has come. Your lack of faith is no longer welcome here. Soldiers, remove the Commander from my sight as well.

(One Ori soldier moves to Tomin, but Tomin turns and grabs his weapon. He pushes the soldier away and turns the weapon on the Prior. The other Ori soldiers begin to move towards Tomin, but the marines block their way and begin to fight for their weapons.)

TOMIN: I believe that you have lost your powers, Prior. And if that is so, then the Ori have also lost their power.

PRIOR: Think on what you are about to do, Commander Tomin. You will be banished from your home and from your people! Do not turn your back on Origin!

TOMIN: Origin is nothing but lies! My faith is based on lies! My life and my service to the Ori has been a lie! It ends today.

(Tomin shoots the Prior, who falls to the ground. Behind Tomin, the marines have subdued the Ori soldiers. Tomin stares at the body of the Prior as Vala comes to him.)

VALA: Is he dead?

TOMIN: No, Ori weapons do not kill. He will wake up in a few hours.

SERGEANT: That’s not an option. He may be able to override the effects of the Anti-Prior device then. We have to kill him.

JACKSON: You just want to murder him while he’s unconscious?

SERGEANT: If he wakes up and regains his powers then there’s nothing we can do against him. (to the marines) Take him outside.

(Two marines pick up the Prior and drag him out of the control room.)

SERGEANT: You three, beam back aboard the Heron and take these Ori prisoners.

(The remaining marines and the Ori soldiers leave.)

TOMIN: There are still hundreds of soldiers on board. What will you do with them?

JACKSON: Will they follow your command?

TOMIN: (hesitating) Yes.

JACKSON: I’ll see what I can do. I’m sure we’ll take them prisoner.

(Meanwhile, outside in the hallway, a shot is heard and the marines come back without the Prior. Tomin looks down at the ground.)

TOMIN: What have I done? A Prior dead because of me!

VALA: The Ori aren’t real gods, Tomin. And the Priors are their servants. They’re trying to enslave the galaxy!

TOMIN: It still doesn’t feel right.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Jackson, come in.

JACKSON: (over radio) Go ahead.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) What’s your status?

JACKSON: (over radio) Well, we’ve managed to take out the Prior on this ship and we’ve taken control of the control room.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Excellent work. Prepare to beam over to the second Ori ship.

ABOARD THE HERON. Colonel Ramirez and the First Officer are in their seats. The computer in front of the First Officer begins to beep.

FIRST OFFICER: Sir, the other Ori ship is powering their shields! It looks like the Anti-Prior device has lost its effect somehow.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Standby, Doctor Jackson. The other Ori ship is preparing to engage us.

NOXIALLAN. Mitchell, Sam, and Teal’c are discussing what to do next.

MITCHELL: So apparently the Nox’s powers are of no use against the Prior.

CARTER: And all along I thought it was because they wanted to uphold their laws.

MITCHELL: It’s possible that that was the reason in the beginning. Now, when they try to stop the Ori, they’re being blocked.

TEAL’C: So what is the plan, Colonel Mitchell.

MITCHELL: Well, hopefully someone received our distress signal that we sent out before we landed. We’ll just have to wait and see who comes along.

CARTER: Nothing is going to be able to stand up to the Ori ships without the Odyssey. The Ori weapons are too strong.

TEAL’C: Maybe we can send a message through the stargate back to General Landry.

CARTER: I’m sure the stargate is well guarded.

MITCHELL: It’s our only option, really.

(Sam nods in agreement. Melior walks over.)

MELIOR: The Tollan would like to assist you if it means killing more Ori.

MITCHELL: Oh, I’m sure there will be plenty for all of us.

ABOARD THE DISABLED ORI BATTLECRUISER. As the other Ori ship powers up, Daniel moves over to the control chair where the Prior was sitting. He slowly moves his hand across the chair. Vala and Tomin are watching him.

VALA: Daniel, what are you doing?

JACKSON: I can feel…something. I don’t know what it is. (Closes his eyes.)

TOMIN: What’s going on?

JACKSON: Ssh.

(Suddenly, the engines roar to life and the ship’s command consoles light up. Daniel takes a deep breath, like he just jumped out of water.)

TOMIN: What did you do?

VALA: How did you do that?

JACKSON: (sincere) Uh, I don’t know. I felt it since I entered the control room. I have some kind of connection with the controls in here. It’s like I can operate the ship with my mind.

TOMIN: Only the Priors can manage the operations of the ship.

VALA: Well, Daniel was a Prior. When Adria turned him into one because she thought that Daniel was working for her, but then Merlin turned Daniel back into his former self. So, how can you run the ship?

JACKSON: I don’t know, maybe some sort of Prior imprint is on me and the ship is responding. This is unbelievable.

TOMIN: I thought you said that you had a device that was capable of preventing Prior magic?

JACKSON: Well, while I was a Prior I was able to override it. Maybe it doesn’t affect me anymore.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Doctor Jackson, we are preparing to engage the Ori ship.

JACKSON: (over radio) Colonel, you’re never going to believe this, but I think I can fly the Ori ship.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) I thought only the Priors could fly the ships.

JACKSON: (over radio) I’m not sure exactly why, but I have controls over some of the systems on the ship.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) How about weapons systems?

JACKSON: (over radio) I’m sorry?

OUT IN SPACE. The Heron is being chased by the Ori ship. The Ori BattleCruiser opens fire with its beam and hits the Heron from behind. Sparks fly on the bridge.

ABOARD THE HERON.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Weapons, Jackson, weapons! Take out the Ori ship!

(The Heron is rocked again by another Ori blast.)

ABOARD THE ORI SHIP.

JACKSON: (over radio) Uh, right.

(Daniel looks around at the controls. Then, he sees the command chair and jumps into it.)

JACKSON: Alright, weapons, weapons…

VALA: Daniel –

JACKSON: Ssh!

OUT IN SPACE. The Heron is moving back and forth with the Ori ship behind it. The Ori ship fires again, barely missing the Heron. The Heron turns and the Ori remains behind it. Then, the second Ori BattleCruiser appears behind the first Ori ship. As the first Ori ship is about to fire, the Ori ship commanded by Daniel shoots its beam, which passes through the Ori shields, and pierces the Ori BattleCruiser. Fires erupt and it is split in two.

ABOARD THE ORI SHIP.

JACKSON: (Breathing a sigh of relief) I did it.

VALA: Good work, Daniel!

(Tomin doesn’t say anything but turns and leaves the control room.)

VALA: Uh oh.

JACKSON: What?

VALA: I don’t think Tomin liked the fact that we destroyed his people.

JACKSON: Well, if it matters, I didn’t enjoy it either.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Good work, Jackson. That Ori ship has been destroyed.

JACKSON: (over radio) Uh, thanks.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) Now, let’s land and retrieve that weapon. Follow my lead.

VALA: You know, Daniel, now that this ship is under our control, I think it deserves a name.

JACKSON: (Raises eyebrows) A name?

VALA: Yeah, you know, something to give it a friendly feel to it. I mean, by itself, it’s just an evil Ori battleship, but with a name then it becomes a friendly ship. You know?

JACKSON: No.

VALA: Well, anyways, I was thinking along the lines of –

JACKSON: We’re not naming the ship, Vala.

VALA: Come on, Daniel, you haven’t even heard my suggestions.

JACKSON: No.

VALA: I was thinking “The Mal Doran”. Sounds good, right?

JACKSON: No.

VALA: Yes, it does!

RAMIREZ: (over radio) The Heron is making her descent now.

VALA: (Whispers) Say ‘The Mal Doran is also landing’! Say it!

JACKSON: (over radio) Copy, Colonel. (Pauses) The Mal Doran is following.

VALA: (Whispers) Yes!

RAMIREZ: (over radio) The Mal Doran?

JACKSON: (over radio) (grimaces) Yeah, Vala’s idea for naming the ship.

(There’s a pause on the other side of the radio.)

RAMIREZ: (over radio) I like it.

JACKSON: (over radio) Really?

(Tomin enters.)

TOMIN: I want my soldiers safely off this ship.

VALA: And how are we going to do that?

TOMIN: Let us off on that planet. We can make our way home from there.

JACKSON: But, how? That planet isn’t anywhere near your home world, is it?

TOMIN: There is an Ori Door on the planet’s surface. We will use that to leave.

JACKSON: A what?

TOMIN: An Ori Door. It is used to travel great distances across the galaxy.

UNKNOWN PLANET IN THE ORI GALAXY. The Heron and the Mal Doran have landed on the planet’s surface next to the crippled Ori ship. A line of Ori soldiers are moving away from the Mal Doran towards a mountain off in the distance, guarded by several dozen marines. Tomin, Daniel, Vala, and Colonel Ramirez are meeting together near the Heron.

RAMIREZ: Those Ori soldiers should be prisoners of war.

JACKSON: They’re returning to their homes.

RAMIREZ: Where they’ll join up with another Prior and come back into the Milky Way. (before Daniel can protest) Relax, Doctor Jackson. I don’t have the men to watch them all here.

VALA: Tomin has agreed to stay with us.

TOMIN: Under protest.

RAMIREZ: A commander of the Ori Armies may prove to have valuable intelligence. He comes whether he wants to or not.

JACKSON: Where are they going anyways? What is the Ori Door?

TOMIN: It is a great circle with symbols on the outside. When it is turned on, a portal appears and we are able to travel across worlds through it.

JACKSON: A stargate? Of course, there must be stargates in this galaxy. After all, the Priors moved through stargates in our galaxy, they must have come from somewhere.

(Daniel looks after the Ori soldiers being led off into the distance.)

JACKSON: I have to see it.

(Daniel begins to run off.)

RAMIREZ: Doctor Jackson!

JACKSON: (Shouts as he runs.) Just find the weapon. It should be on board. I’ll be back with the marines.

(Daniel runs up to the moving line of Ori soldiers with marine guards. Up ahead, the mountain gets closer.)

VALA: Daniel, wait up!

(Vala chases after him.)

UNKNOWN PLANET. The marines, Daniel, Vala, and the Ori prisoners are marching through a dead city with ruined buildings on both sides and overgrown plants eating away at the foundations.

ORI SOLDIER: The door!

VALA: Where?

(Daniel looks up ahead and sees a large, red circle of metal. It looks just like the stargate, except it is a different color.)

JACKSON: (He points to the stargate.) There.

VALA: That looks like a stargate.

JACKSON: Yes, probably because it is a stargate.

(The group moves towards the red stargate and one of the Ori soldiers approaches a familiar object.)

JACKSON: It has a DHD, too. (Daniel looks up at the stargate.) But that’s different.

VALA: What’s different?

JACKSON: Well, it looks like there are two rings around the wormhole. I’ll need to take a closer look.

(Daniel begins to move forward, but then the wormhole appears and the marines start pushing the Ori soldiers through. Once they’re all evacuated, the wormhole closes behind them. Daniel moves up to the stargate.)

JACKSON: There are two rings.

VALA: Why would there be two rings?

JACKSON: (Studying the stargate.) Well, it looks like the outer ring is similar to our own, with matching symbols and coordinates, except for the fact that it’s red. But the inner ring is covered in symbols I’ve never seen before.

VALA: Are they Ancient?

JACKSON: They’re vaguely similar. If I had to take a guess, I’d say the inner circle has symbols much older than the outer circle.

VALA: So why are there two rings in this galaxy but not in our galaxy?

JACKSON: Well, it’s possible that the Ancients created these stargates as well when they were still with the Ori. Then, when they left to another galaxy, they removed the outer circle from the Milky Way stargates so that no one would be able to come back into the Ori galaxy and notify them of our existence.

VALA: Well then why do these stargates have our symbols?

JACKSON: I’m not sure. Either the Ancients put them there or the Ori did once they figured out that there was life in another galaxy.

MARINE: Doctor Jackson, all prisoners have been evacuated. We should head back to the Heron.

JACKSON: Just give me another minute to try and write down some of these symbols.

MARINE: Sir, we need to go. I have my orders.

JACKSON: Don’t you see the wealth of knowledge that knowing these symbols could bring? I mean, we could start exploring the Ori galaxy and bring the attack to them for a change.

(Suddenly, the stargate begins to activate. The chevrons light up one at a time.)

MARINE: Incoming wormhole! Find some cover!

(The wormhole appears while the marines, Daniel, and Vala hide behind a ruined structure. After a few seconds, Ori soldiers begin to pour out of the stargate. The marines open fire and take out the first Ori soldiers that walk through the wormhole. However, there are soon too many soldiers and they are able to press forward and find cover among the ruins.)

VALA: Well they came back quick!

MARINE: We can’t hold this position! We need to fall back!

(The marines, Daniel, and Vala continue to fire their weapons as they retreat among the ruined buildings, Ori blasts barely missing them.)

UNKNOWN PLANET. The Heron and Mal Doran are being prepped for take off. Outside, Colonel Ramirez and a group of marines are awaiting the return of Daniel and Vala. A soldier comes up to Colonel Ramirez.

MARINE: Sir, we have the Anti-Ori device on board the Heron.

RAMIREZ: Good work. Get everyone back on board.

MARINE: Yes, sir.

(The science officer approaches Ramirez.)

RAMIREZ: Can we fix the ship?

SCIENCE OFFICER: (Shakes his head.) It’s beyond repair, at least beyond my skill to repair. I’m afraid it’s no use to us.

RAMIREZ: Can the Ori repair it?

SCIENCE OFFICER: I’m not sure. I would suspect that a Prior would be able to fly it with his powers.

RAMIREZ: Then we should destroy it when we get into orbit.

(Just then, Daniel and Vala appear at the horizon, running towards them. Behind them, Ori blasts are whizzing over their heads.)

RAMIREZ: (Yells.) What’s going on?

VALA: Ori soldiers! Lots of them!

RAMIREZ: Covering fire!

(Three marines open fire with their automatics to provide cover while Daniel and Vala board the Mal Doran. The marines retreat to the Heron as the Ori soldiers approach.)

ABOARD THE MAL DORAN.

VALA: Daniel, get us out of here!

JACKSON: Working on it!

UNKNOWN PLANET. Daniel jumps into the chair and the engines power up. Outside, the Heron and Mal Doran begin to hover off the ground, with Ori weapons blasts hitting their shields. Then, the two ships turn and fly towards space.

ABOARD THE MAL DORAN. The Mal Doran and the Heron are in hyperspace moving towards the Super Gate.

VALA: Do you think Tomin is alright?

JACKSON: Ramirez put him on the Heron under guard. He’ll probably be interrogated once we get back to Earth, but I’m sure he’ll be alright.

VALA: (Pauses.) Do you think the Ori know that we’re heading for the Super Gate?

JACKSON: We’ll find out soon enough. Exiting hyperspace.

(The Mal Doran and the Heron open hyperspace windows and arrive near the Super Gate. No Ori ships are visible.)

JACKSON: (over radio) Alright, we’re here. Now how do we open the gate? We can’t just wait for an Ori ship to open it for us now that they know we’re here.

RAMIREZ: (over radio) We’re working on it.

(Meanwhile, Vala has turned to one of the control consoles. On it, there is a large button glowing red. She walks to it.)

VALA: I wonder what this does.

JACKSON: Vala, don’t push any –

(Vala pushes the button, which turns from red to green. Outside, the Super Gate activates and a large wormhole appears.)

JACKSON: Buttons.

(Vala smiles at Daniel.)

VALA: I told you so.

JACKSON: Uh, I don’t think you actually did tell me. (over radio) Colonel, we’ve activated the Super Gate, it’s all clear. (to Vala) Let’s hope the Ancients let us bring the weapon into the galaxy.

(The Heron and Mal Doran pass through the Super Gate.)

THE SUPER GATE IN THE MILKY WAY GALAXY. The large wormhole is being guarded by three Jaffa Motherships when the Heron and the Mal Doran pass through. The Motherships quickly hail the Heron and open fire on the Mal Doran.

HERON COMMAND DECK. Colonel Ramirez is directing her crew through the Super Gate.

JAFFA WARRIOR: (on screen) Tau’ri vessel, you were followed through the Super Gate by an Ori ship. We are opening fire on it.

RAMIREZ: Hold fire, Jaffa! We have commandeered that Ori ship and it is now under our control. Hopefully it will give us an advantage against the other Ori ships.

(In space, the Motherships cease their fire on the Mal Doran, which hasn’t been scratched by their weapons fire. Then, Bra’tac appears on screen.)

BRA’TAC: (on screen) It is good to see that fortunes have turned in our favor.

RAMIREZ: Master Bra’tac. I am Colonel Ramirez of the Heron.

BRA’TAC: (on screen) I am pleased to meet you, Colonel Ramirez, however I was on my way to the Tau’ri homeworld with important news.

RAMIREZ: What is it?

BRA’TAC: (on screen) SG-1 has sent out a distress signal wishing every friendly force to meet at the Nox homeworld to fight off an Ori invasion. I was on my way to ask for the support of other Tau’ri vessels, but I am glad that I have decided to stop by the Super Gate to check up on it. Now that you are here, we can go together.

JACKSON: (over radio) Colonel Ramirez, is the weapon safe?

RAMIREZ: Doctor Jackson, I’m sure it is. No one has touched it since we left.

JACKSON: (over radio) The Ancients could have discovered it by now. I need to know if we still have the weapon.

RAMIREZ: (agitated) Fine. (To First Officer) Go check on the weapon and make sure it’s still there.

FIRST OFFICER: Yes, sir.

(The first officer gets up and leaves the bridge.)

BRA’TAC: (on screen) We must be on our way if we are to help out SG-1. I will send one of my Motherships to search for the other Tau’ri vessel, the Odyssey.

RAMIREZ: We’ll send a subspace message back to Earth notifying them of the situation.

JACKSON: (over radio) We may be able to use the Mal Doran to get close enough to the other Ori ships to take them out.

BRA’TAC: (on screen) The Mal Doran?

JACKSON: (over radio) Yeah, Vala’s idea for a name for the Ori ship.

BRA’TAC: (on screen. Thinks for a minute.) I like it.

FIRST OFFICER: (over radio) Sir, the weapon is gone!

RAMIREZ: What do you mean gone?

FIRST OFFICER: (over radio) It’s just gone! I don’t know what happened to it!

ABOARD THE MAL DORAN. Jackson and Vala look at each other after hearing about the missing Ori weapon.

JACKSON: (over radio) I do. (Daniel looks up towards the ceiling in sorrow.) (over radio) I told you they wouldn’t let us bring it here.

NOXIALLAN. SG-1 and the Tollan have reached the stargate. There are a dozen Ori soldiers guarding it, and an active wormhole has been established. More Ori soldiers are pouring out of it.

MITCHELL: It looks like we’ve got our hands full.

MELIOR: We’ll take care of it.

(Without a word, Melior and the Tollan jump up and charge the stargate.)

CARTER: (surprised) Melior, wait!

(The Ori soldiers notice them and open fire. Several Tollan fall.)

MITCHELL: SG-1, let’s move!

(SG-1 runs after the Tollan. The Tollan open fire with their freezing weapons and freeze the stargate itself. The wormhole shuts down and the flow of Ori soldiers stops. Teal’c opens fire with his automatic and takes down an Ori soldier. SG-1 takes cover behind the tree line, while the Tollan push out into the open. Several more Tollan fall.)

CARTER: Melior, get your men back under cover!

(Melior ignores Sam and moves forward. Suddenly, he is hit by an Ori blast and falls.)

MITCHELL: Teal’c, grenade!

(Teal’c stops firing his automatic and pulls out a grenade. He lobs it towards the stargate where it explodes, knocking several Ori to the ground. Afterwards, the fighting stops and the other Ori soldiers retreat.)

SPACE ORBIT AROUND NOXIALLAN. The Mal Doran appears from a hyperspace window. Another Ori BattleCruiser is flying near them. The Mal Doran approaches it and opens fire on it. The Ori Beam cuts through the Ori ship in one shot. Explosions flame across the entire ship.

ABOARD THE MAL DORAN.

JACKSON: One down.

VALA: The other Ori ships are parked on the surface of the planet.

JACKSON: I see them.

(The Mal Doran fires again, the beam shooting through the atmosphere and hitting one of the Ori ships on the ground. It explodes in a giant fireball.)

VALA: The other Ori ships are powering their engines.

(Once again, the Mal Doran fires its beam and takes out another Ori ship. There is only one Ori BattleCruiser remaining on the ground.)

ABOARD THE REMAINING ORI BATTLECRUISER ON NOXIALLAN. In the control room, the Prior is in a panic. Adria is by his side. The Prior turns to her.

PRIOR: Please, save me, Orici!

(Adria looks at him with a look of disdain.)

ADRIA: Fool.

(Adria disappears in a flashing, white light. The Ori ship is destroyed as the Prior lets out a howl.)

NOXIALLAN CITY. Peace and order has been restored to Noxiallan. SG-1 is saying their good-byes to the Nox. Melior and the Tollan, who were hit with Ori weapons that stun, not kill, arrive.

LONA: We are ever grateful for your help, Colonel Carter.

CARTER: I hope the Nox understand how big of a threat the Ori actually are.

LONA: There is little we can do against them. Even if we could, we would not pursue them away from our home world. It is against –

CARTER: I know. Everything you believe in.

MELIOR: The Tollan offer their allegiance to the Tau’ri, Colonel Carter. Anything that we can do to help, we will.

MITCHELL: We appreciate it. Some of those freezing weapons would come in handy.

MELIOR: Consider it done.

JACKSON: (over radio) Hey guys.

TEAL’C: It is good to hear your voice, Daniel Jackson.

JACKSON: (over radio) You too, Teal’c. You guys aren’t going to believe what I picked up in the Ori galaxy. We now have our very own Ori ship.

CARTER: Wow, that’s amazing! How are you flying it?

JACKSON: (over radio) Apparently whatever Prior powers that I had are enough that I can fly it.

MITCHELL: (impressed) We now have our very own Ori BattleCruiser!

VALA: (over radio) Yes, and it’s called the Mal Doran.

(Mitchell and Carter smile.)

TEAL’C: The Mal Doran? I like it.

JACKSON: (over radio) Yeah, I knew you would.
